Children and teens experience stress and anxiety just like adults do except it is for different reasons. Some of the most common reasons for stress and anxiety in children include:

  • separation anxiety

  • being over scheduled

  • peer pressure

  • bullying

  • standardized tests

  • making good grades

  • too much homework

  • not enough unstructured play time

  • parental discord

  • inability to express themselves

  • poor impulse control that leads to undesirable consequences

  • being an introvert in an extroverted world

  • not fitting in

Stress and anxiety can cause more problems than mental anguish. It is the leading cause of physical ailments, illnesses and diseases that can 100% be prevented by learning how to turn off the stress response. Mindfulness and meditation have been proven to reduce stress and we think the earlier a child learns these essential life skills, the better!

When mindfulness and meditation are practiced regularly, children and teens are better able to deal with the complexities of life. They are able to easily relax their bodies, create space when they are having difficult emotions so that they can respond instead of react and cultivate mental clarity. Mindfulness and meditation do not have harmful side effects and have numerous positive benefits!
